Who exactly were the Native Americans? Before the English settled to New York, Native Americans lived there. Some names of the tribes who lived there are the Cayuga, Erie, Iroquois, Mohawk, Oneida, and Seneca.
The English had a good relationship with the Native Americans. The tribes were willing to show the English how to cook and fish. Many of the tribes were comprehensive or open-minded to the outsiders; trying new customs and there culture. For example after the arrival of the Europeans, many Iroquois became Christians. Other tribes became alliances and fought alongside the British against tribes or colonist. |
